At one time, a third of all people listening to the radio in Boston were listening to Shadoe Stevens - an all-time major market record in radio ratings. A year later he landed in Hollywood ...and created and programmed the most successful and widely imitated radio format in the country when he launched Alternative Rock, ’World Famous” KROQ - then, a year later, he went across town create to the first major album rock format in America at KMET. As Program Director and personality he took that station’ to #1 in Los Angeles, while Creating and hosting the number one Weekly Radio Show ...the Great American Rock Album Countdown; and winning the Billboard Magazine Radio Personality of the Year Award. In advertising, he created and starred in the most successful regional campaign in U.S. History with Fred Rated for Federated, won CLEO AWARDS, and did all the advertising for The Blues Brothers movie, 48 Hours, and Fast Times at Ridgemont High… Going into television, he became a heart-throb with mountains of fan mail on Hollywood Squares; became one of the stars of the Top 10 sitcom Dave’s World, the comedy/drama Max Monroe: Loose Cannon, and guest-starred on Baywatch, Beverly Hills 90210 and the “Larry Sanders Show;” And all this, while hosting the biggest radio show in the world, Ameri- can Top 40, heard in 110 countries by more than a billion people a week.
